Elements of Art and Design

 Line:a long, narrow mark or band

Shape:the external form or appearance characteristic of someone or something; the outline of an area or figure.








Color:the property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way the object reflects or emits light.

Value (Tone):the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.

Form:having the form of

Texture:the feel, appearance, or consistency of a surface or a substance

Space:An element of art, space refers to distances or areas around, between or within components of a piece.

Balance:a condition in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions

Contrast:the state of being strikingly different from something else, typically something in juxtaposition or close association.





Emphasis:special importance, value, or prominence given to something.

Movement:an act of changing physical location or position or of having this changed

Pattern:a repeated decorative design

Rhythm:a strong, regular, repeated pattern of movement or sound

Unity:the state of being united or joined as a whole
