Photo journalism






1. Find three photos that you find especially powerful.




2. Explain what kind of planning and research the photographer had to ask to get the photos they took?

     The photographer had to get permission from the people from the people for the photos, and they had to know about the issue they were reporting on to get appropriate pictures. 


3. Under the section on "Planning," what does the writer suggest doing to capture emotional images?

     To capture an emotional image you must have some research done to know how/when to capture the most emotion filled images.


4. Under the section on "Composition," what does the writer suggest doing to help you "pick a face out of the crowd?"

     The writer suggest you put your focal point on someone's face or choose a person wearing a hat or holding something that will easily stand out. 


5. What is a photo essay?

     A photo essay is a collection of pictures put in order to tell a progression of events, emotions, and concepts.


6. Summarize the 5 tips the writer provides.

     The writer suggest you first choose what to photography and research, find what angle you would like to take in a photo essay, choose what values and emotions you'll play on, and finally plan out your shots to convey the emotions you chose to convey in the essay.
